WHAT IS A BIOS BATTERY?

...

What is the BIOS battery and what does it do?

The battery on the motherboard provides the energy needed to keep the settings made on the motherboard software (BIOS) even when the computer's electrical connection is cut (when the computer is turned off or the power cord is unplugged).

What happens if the BIOS battery dies?

When you turn on your computer, you may see errors in the date and time settings. This data stored on the BIOS battery is one of the signals that the battery life has started to run out. Settings that exist while the computer is on will be reset. In some cases, the computer may not turn on.

Does the BIOS reset when the battery is removed?

Remove the battery on the motherboard (large board) inside the case (usually on the bottom, round and similar to a watch battery) by pulling the metal on the edge. Wait a few minutes and insert it again. This will reset the CMOS.

How long does the BIOS battery last?

The lifespan of the BIOS battery depends on the maintenance and usage conditions of the device. If no unusual circumstances are encountered, the normal lifespan of a BIOS battery is approximately 5 years or more.

What happens if the BIOS is damaged?

The BIOS can be damaged due to a faulty BIOS upgrade or damage caused by a virus in the environment (such as power fluctuations or power outages). If the BIOS is damaged, the computer will try to automatically restore the system BIOS from a hidden section when the computer is restarted.
