What is 5G?
It is the next generation of wireless telephone technology.

Who will conduct the 5G auction and who can participate?
The auction for 5G will be held by the Ministry of Transport and Infrastructure’s Information Technologies and Communications Authority (BTK). BTK, which is preparing to introduce the new technology to Turkey, will complete the technical and authorization work for 5G by the end of the year.
All operators providing services in the country can participate in the auction.

Which frequencies will be auctioned for 5G?
Frequencies at 700 MHz, 3.5 GHz, and 26 GHz are being prepared for this purpose.

What will 5G bring?
5G will not only provide faster connection speeds but will also be the cornerstone of a smarter, more reliable, and more inclusive digital ecosystem.
5G will increase download speeds to 10 gigabits per second and will use higher radio frequencies compared to 4G.

Is 5G being used in Turkey?
5G technology is currently being used for testing purposes at 34 locations in Turkey, including Istanbul Airport.

What is the difference between 5G and 4.5G?
With 5G technology, real networks have reached speeds of 4.7 gigabits per second, and in laboratory conditions, speeds can reach 7.5 gigabits per second. This means 5G will be approximately 10 times faster than 4.5G.

Will local products be used in 5G technology?
Efforts are underway for the equipment and devices related to 5G mobile communication technology to be produced by local designers, engineers, and workers.

How is 5G activated?
You need a 5G-compatible device and a 4.5G/5G-compatible SIM card, followed by registration for 5G.

What will appear on the phone screen when 5G is active?
The screen will display “5G” instead of “LTE”.

When will 5G be available for use?
The 5G auction will take place this year, and the technology will be available for both citizens and industries in 2026.
